The Southern University Jaguars will face Gonzaga in a second-round contest in the West Region of the NCAA tournament in Salt Lake City on Thursday.
Northwestern State will battle Florida in a second-round matchup in the South Region in Austin on Friday.
It is the first time Southern has been in the tournament since 2006. With a record of 23-9 the Jaguars punched their ticket with a 45-44 victory over Prairie View in the Southwestern Athletic Conference championship game. The Jags are seeded No. 16.
Gonzaga is seeded No. 1 with a season record of 31-2. The only games the Bulldogs lost were to Illinois and Butler.
Northwestern State is the Southland Conference champion and with a record of 23-8 is seeded No. 14. Florida, 26-7 on the season, is seeded No. 3.
