Linebacker Jonathan Vilma and defensive end Will Smith have agreed to restructured contracts with the Saints.
ESPN's Larry Holder reports the Saints have restructured the deals of two players who were scheduled to count more than $23 million against the salary cap.
Holder says it was unclear how much cap space the restructures created, but it’s fair to assume both players took significant pay cuts.
As the Saints transition to a new 3-4 defensive scheme, Smith will continue to play at defensive end, but Vilma will move on the line from his position as a middle linebacker..
