Mayor Mitch Landrieu says the power outage that darkened the Superdome and delayed the Super Bowl for 34 minutes will not define the city's performance during Super Bowl Week.
"The power outage was an unfortunate moment for us, and you can be sure that we'll get to the bottom of it. But 34 minutes of darkness will never overshadow or outshine the city of New Orleans and how we performed this Super Bowl week," Landrieu said at a post Super Bowl press conference Tuesday.
"We feel really good about the work that we did, and we feel really spectacular about how we shined on the world stage, and that 34 minutes as I said is not gonna cast a shadow over the accomplishments of the people of the city of New Orleans," Landrieu said.
The mayor also said the outage will not negatively impact the city's bid to host the 2018 Super Bowl.
