Steve Spagnuolo is one and done as Saints defensive coordinator.
The Saints announced late Thursday that Spagnuolo, along with secondary coach Ken Flajole "have been relieved of their duties with the team".
Saints head coach Sean Payton personally thanked the two for their contributions during an "unprecedented" 2012 season.
"Philosophically we are changing our defense to a 3-4 alignment and right now is the best time to accomplish this transition," Payton said.
The Saints finished with the worst defense in the NFL in 2012, allowing 454 points; only Tennessee gave up more. New Orleans also yielded the most yards (7,042) ever in a single season
