The brothers Harbaugh, coaches of the Ravens and 49ers, will meet each other at the Superdome in Super Bowl XLVII, Feb. 3.

Baltimore defeated the New England Patriots, 28-13 Sunday evening to win the AFC Championship.

Joe Flacco threw three second-half touchdown passes while the Ravens shut out Tom Brady and the Patriots offense after intermission.  New England held a 13-6 halftime lead.  Brady had been 67-0 at home when leading at the intermission.

The Baltimore victory avenged a loss to New England in last year's conference title game.

An emotional Ray Lewis, who intends to retire at the end of the season, said of going to the big game, "it's awesome."

Earlier in the day, Frank Gore ran for a pair of second-half touchdowns and the 49ers rebounded from a 17-0 deficit to beat the Atlanta Falcons 28-24 in the NFC championship game, sending San Francisco to the Super Bowl for the first time since 1995.

The top-seeded Falcons (14-4) tried to pull out another season-saving drive at the end, but Matt Ryan's fourth-down pass for Roddy White with 1:13 remaining was knocked down by San Francisco linebacker NaVorro Bowman.

John Harbaugh, coach of the Ravens and Jim Harbaugh, coach of the 49ers will face each other in the first brother-on-brother matchup in Super Bowl history.

"It's a pretty cool thing," John Harbaugh replied recently when he was asked about the possibility of a Super Bowl showdown with his brother at the Superdome.

"It'll be a great football game," he said Sunday night.

As much chatter as there will be about the players involved, from Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis and his impending retirement to 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick's sudden emergence, the sibling angle will make this coaching matchup the most scrutinized in the nearly half-century of Super Sundays.

The Harbaughs became the first brothers to coach against each other in any NFL game on Thanksgiving day, 2011.

The 49ers open as 5-point favorites.
