While some fans are disappointed that the LSU Tigers are going to the Chick-fil-A Bowl, Coach Les Miles said Monday the Tigers are going where they're wanted.
"I want to go to the place that wants us, and I personally enjoy the place that Gary Stokan and Chick-fil-A have arranged that we would have the opportunity to play a good Clemson team," Miles said during a team selection teleconference.
LSU will face Clemson in the Chick-fil-A Bowl at the Georgia Dome at 7:30pm December 31st.
LSU last won that game in 2008 with a 38-3 victory over Georgia Tech.
So it will be the #7 LSU Tigers versus the #13 Tigers from Clemson in a contest to be televised by ESPN.
Both teams enter the match with records of 10-2. LSU defeated Clemson in their two previous bowl matchups, 7-0 in the 1959 Sugar Bowl and 10-7 in the 1996 Peach Bowl.
"We're about as excited as you can be to have a 10-win team ranked 7th in the nation in the LSU Tigers," said Chick-fil-A Bowl President Gary Stokan. "Coach Miles has led his team to the pinnacle of elite programs in the country, and they will, without doubt, give us one of the best bowl match-ups in the nation."
Coach Miles says "we look foward to a great match-up and a competitive game."
"We enjoy playing in Atlanta. It's a great city that has been very good to LSU. I'm sure that we'll travel extremely well," Miles said.
